Resources

For the resources we will need a location to film. We decided that Stella’s house would be best because we have permission to film there and it’s a good open location to film. The Props we will need is fake blood when the burglar gets stabbed, a blank disk to write on, a weapon for the woman, a gym bag for the burglary, a mobile phone and a land rover for burglars to get away, driven by liam's dad so its legal and safe.
We need low level lighting so we will film when it is dark.
We will need a camera and all four of us will be acting in the film.
Three burglars will need to be in black clothing to make it seem more realistic and the woman would wear smart work wear and a handbag.

Discuss Possible genres

We listed all of the genres that we could think of and decided which films were possible to film and which we most wanted to do. We narrowed down our genres to psychological/horror and Crime/thriller. We decided that horror was too generic and most people have already chosen this genre. We also decided that filming a crime/thriller would be hard to implicate so we took the thriller out to just have a crime film. The crime opening would be easiest to film as we could easily find locations and it would not require any special effects.

An idea for a film

A woman is on her way home from work late at night. She doesn't expect it but there are three guys who have entered her house.
She comes home early to find them rummaging through her belonging. she stabs's one of them, they swiftly escape leaving the man behind.
she frantically picked up the phone saying "they know i'm here"
Voice reply's "did they find it?"
She searches through her drawers to find a secret compartment and opens to find a disk/USB
She replies " No, but i'm sure they'll be back"
The robbers then come back for the stabbed man pulling him into the land rover and driving off.

Target audience

We’ve rated our film as 15. We done this because there will be moderate violence and mild swearing. The target audience we have chosen will be 16-25 year old males. We have targeted them because of the genre and the amount of action. Typically men would want to see the film as it generally interests them.

Silence of the lambs film opening analysis

The  close up of the female shows her as the main character. The unusual beginning setting of woods shows us it has a connection with the horror/thriller genre, as does the traditional start as a woman running through the woods. This gives the chase theme.This particular style is commonly used in thriller films. The camera tracks the woman from behind, emphasising the chase, like we are following her. The simple credits, in block capitals, black with a white outlining makes the film appear to be on a low budget. The films budget was approxamatly $17,000,000 which is a reasonably low budget film for this day in age. However, it Box offices in the region of $272million

The genre is established by the background music, the music also adds emphasis on the idea of the chase, starts off quick and gradually slows down. The instrumental sequence of music establishes the thriller genre, as the music is eery and makes you feel on-edge.
